Back in the sunshine
After weeks of rain and very few chances to play outdoors, the children finally got some sun — and made the most of it. Volleyball to their hearts' content: running, jumping, cheering and laughing together.
My favourite activity was Family Day. My whole family joined. I also love rollerblading. And I like the devotions because it is there that I hear stories about God.— A child in our After School Program
I'm happy that I receive a birthday cake and birthday gift at Rapha. I also like that we can drink milk here. We are taught to wash our hands before we eat, and I like the food — especially the vegetables.— A child at Rapha
Playtime is my favourite part. I like it when the staff set up the small swimming pool for us at Rapha. I was happy that my family could join Family Day.— A child at Rapha
A glimpse of what happens at Rapha, drawn from our regular updates.
After weeks of rain and very few chances to play outdoors, the children finally got some sun — and made the most of it. Volleyball to their hearts' content: running, jumping, cheering and laughing together.
Once again we provided milk, prenatal vitamins, rice, vegetables and fruit to the expectant mothers in our Hermanatics program. They should know they are valued, supported, and not alone.
For many children at risk, Rapha is a place of refuge and safety — a place where they are welcomed, valued, loved and cared for. The regularity builds stability, and gives them something to look forward to all week.
Participation is at the heart of our ministry. We believe giving children the opportunity to express their thoughts, opinions and experiences is itself a form of empowerment — and it helps them develop a sense of ownership over their community.
At Rapha, children of all ages have a voice. Their thoughts and opinions are valued, heard and validated. So we ask them: what did you enjoy? What was hard? What should we change?
Their answers give us both encouragement and insight — and they shape what we do next.
As each year closes we pause, reflect and evaluate our programs and services. Evaluation is not simply about looking at numbers or checking whether activities were completed — it is about asking whether we are truly meeting the needs of the children and families we serve, and what we can improve.
A vital part of that process is listening to our clients. Their experiences, feedback, thoughts and suggestions help us understand what matters most to them, and where we can grow.
Our team gathers for dedicated planning time — reflecting on where we have been, evaluating our programs and services, and prayerfully looking ahead. Our desire is to serve the children and families entrusted to us with integrity, quality, love and holistic care.
